Our Team

Sharon A. Simms, MSW CPC
Sharon is the Founder and CEO of SAS Services, LLC. With 20 years of experience in human/social services, she has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 17 years, helping agencies provide effective programs to their clientele. Sharon served as a lecturer for the graduate program at the University of Hawai‘i, Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work, and the Outreach College at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She has trained social workers, human services professionals, trainers, and volunteers across Hawai‘i. Sharon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She also has expertise in curriculum development, program evaluation, strategic planning, and event planning.

Aimee Chung
Aimee brings over 20 years of experience in social work and education. An independent consultant and instructor at the University of Hawai'i, Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work, Aimee has directed programs for survivors of family violence, child abuse, and power-based violence. She also advocates for individuals with disabilities and those facing economic disadvantages. Aimee has worked in both nonprofit organizations and state departments in Hawai'i, California, and Colorado. Her consulting experience includes program evaluation, policy development, grant writing, community collaboration, curriculum development, and staff training and supervision.

Dr. Billie-Jo Grant, Ph.D.
Dr. Grant specializes in designing and analyzing randomized controlled trials, mixed-methods research, and qualitative studies. With over 10 years of experience, she has consulted with government agencies, educational institutions, and nonprofits. Dr. Grant has led over 30 evaluation studies on STEM products and taught courses in survey design, measurement theory, and data visualization. She is a faculty member at Cal Poly State University and an active member of the American Evaluation Association. Dr. Grant holds a Ph.D. in Educational Research Statistics and Evaluation from the University of Virginia and has completed extensive research training.

Edlyn Moana Olaso
Edlyn became a Virtual Assistant in 2015, working with Central Oahu Youth Services Association (COYSA). It was there that she connected with Sharon, leading her to find her purpose. As an alumnus of The Kamehameha Schools, Moana embraces her multicultural heritage and values. She and her husband raised five sons and their great-grandniece, a former foster child, in their loving home. Although Moana’s heart is in Hawai‘i, she now resides in Nevada, where she plans to retire.

Ashley Petitt
Ashley is an independent consultant and Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience in Hawai‘i. She has worked in clinical supervision and direct care, focusing on marginalized and underserved populations. Ashley’s expertise includes strategic planning, program evaluation, and grant management, particularly for individuals facing mental illness, houselessness, substance use, trauma, and chronic conditions. She currently consults for the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s School of Nursing and co-facilitates Hawai‘i’s Trauma Informed Taskforce. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from Smith College SSW in Northampton, MA.

Heather Pierucki
Heather Pierucki is a passionate connector dedicated to Hawaii’s mental health, substance abuse, and homelessness services. She spearheaded the Housing First approach in Hawai‘i and promotes harm reduction strategies. As a former Director of Behavioral Health at Helping Hands Hawai'i, Heather helped improve the lives of the most vulnerable populations. She now consults full-time with ChangeWorks, LLC, focusing on creating meaningful change and addressing the community’s toughest challenges. Her work is grounded in understanding trauma and its impact on healing.

Mary Tam
Mary has over 17 years of experience in social justice, working in fundraising, program management, and grantmaking. She has worked for organizations like Amnesty International USA, Net Impact, and the State Bar of California. Mary now leads Nā Hopena Consulting, helping organizations achieve strategic goals through stakeholder engagement. Her work focuses on program design, strategic planning, and operations. Mary holds an MBA from San Francisco State University and is committed to reducing inequity and promoting integrity, cultural context, and community involvement.

Verna Wong
Verna Wong is the Principal Consultant of Verna Wong HR Services, LLC, specializing in strategic planning, organizational development, and leadership coaching. She has held leadership roles in human resources at Hawaiian Host Inc. and the University of Hawai‘i. Verna also served as a mentor to at-risk youth and volunteers with various nonprofit organizations. She is passionate about supporting Hawai'i’s at-risk communities and holds extensive experience in HR functions, organizational development, and leadership coaching. Verna’s work enhances the growth and resilience of both individuals and organizations.
